The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle
4.0

I'm sad to say that I had never really read any Sherlock Holmes ( I think I read one or two in school but that doesn't really count). And while this is really a collection of short stories it doesn't seem like it because it's just one adventure after another. It's a great read. Perfect for reading while taking the tube to and from work.

The biggest revelation in reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes was just how accurate the current movies with Robert Downey Jr are. The real Sherlock Holmes was moody and eccentric and used cocaine regularly (although not a major point in the stories, just merely referenced). There were even several lines that were directly used in the first movie. The whole time I was reading I could literally hear Robert Downey's Holmes in my head. It actually made the stories more enjoyable and humorous.

Even my 13 year old daughter has read these and loves them. She's now reading all the Sherlock Holmes books. It also helps that these are all free on the Kindle.
