A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
2.0
2 stars is an act of charity. This book could have been at least 200 pages shorter, but I suspect the author was getting paid by the word, or by the unnecessary and overabundant scenes about wine. How, pray tell, does the most powerful witch in existence require constant rescuing from her overbearing, controlling, red-flag-factory of a boyfriend?
Final takeaways include:
-If I never hear the word “wine” again, it’ll be too soon.
-Somehow, a book about vampires, witches, and daemons made the supernatural feel aggressively dull.
-More yoga than a wellness influencer’s Instagram.
-Omg, the library… AGAIN?!
-Three full pages dedicated to dinner?
Honestly, I cannot believe I finished it.
