At the time of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas coming out, the book was one of my "favourite" books on a topic that is such a sad and dark one. I appreciate that there is quite a lot of controversy around how realistic the storyline is, but sometimes unrealistic stories can still teach us something. I found it fantastic how Boyne managed to tell the story from such a children's perspective and showed how something that did not make any sense to adults was just as confusing for children, but for different reasons.
