I loved this book! I really liked the concept, the plot, the characters, the history, the magic, everything! The book was very well written and the plot was tight. It has some powerful commentary on race, hate, and justice. The characters were great. The narrator Maryse was especially well-written, and she had amazing character development. The historical aspects were super interesting, and I learned some things. The supernatural aspects were great too, with some genuinely terrifying monsters and body horror.
