I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved the main characters. Aria and Lucien complemented each other very well. This is the first book in a duology and it ends on a cliffhanger, so if you need the second book ASAP, you might want to wait until the second one comes out. If you're okay with waiting, I highly suggest you make this your next read. I love a good secret society and I hope the second book shows us more of that. There is some cat and mouse and stalking but the author did a really good job of making it stand out from other takes on this trope. The spice was well written and didn't overshadow or take over the plot. I loved how Aria became more confident throughout the book, eventually leading to some steamy scenes once she got caught by Lucien. There are some heavy moments but the trigger warnings cover everything dark in the book. This would be a good read for someone who has an interest in dark romance but doesn't want to dive off the deep end and start with The Ritual or Haunting Adeline. It's a perfect book to test the waters for dark romance. I am glad I got the chance to read this and I am looking forward to the second book.
