Let Your Hearts Be Light by Fae Quin

5.0

This was my first read from Fae Quin and I totally loved it! I don’t often read books with kids as main characters or featuring single parents, but in this story it worked so well!

Baxter and Paxton get signed up by their teenagers to be part of their high school’s Christmas buddy program for single parents. Though both agree to participate to make their kids happy, neither of them think it will end with romance.

The grumpy x sunshine dynamic between Paxton and Baxter was perfect for this holiday romance! I loved that they just opened up to each other so naturally, and the progression of their relationship was so delightful and low angst (and spicy) because they just fit together so well. Sometimes it’s just so refreshing to read romances where the characters start to have a relationship and immediately accept it for what it is, with no drama, no miscommunication, and no third act breakup.

The dad jokes and humor were such a fun touch, and help balance out the more serious topics in the book such as loneliness when surrounded by others and anxiety.

I’ll definitely be reading more Fae Quin books asap, and here’s hoping for a Trent book in the future!
