I did not expect to like this book as much as I did.
First of all...when I started reading it I thought to myself..."oh shit... is this YA? Will this book end up getting me frustrated?" The answer to that is NO!!!! this is NOT YA!!!
GLORY GLORY HALLELUJAH!!
This is not Fever or Lord of the Rings, BUT this book has all the fun, witty, angst and spunk of people in there mid- 20s with ALL the perks of being in your 20s!!! (Yes, I mean sex).
Now...I should mention that I LOVE paranormal fantasy realms. The world we are introduced to is awesome with vampires, elves (my weakness), fairies, druids and then some special to this book species...which our main character happens to be.
The storyline does start and stop a bit...and has a very "fellowship of the ring" vibe as they set off on their adventure (which takes a bit long to get moving), but for the most part I enjoyed the lighter quality of the book. I thought the ending did kind of come to a quick finish, especially as it felt like we were being led to a huge battle.
All in all...I bought the rest of the series...I can't stand leaving anything unfinished and it made me laugh and kept my attention with the secondary characters plot-lines as well as the MCs.
