There was a moment in the middle, there, where I considered rating this more highly, but it didn't make up for the incredible amount of violence in this book. Maybe if I'd read this shortly after the first one in the series, the violence wouldn't have bothered me as much, but this is 2021 and...no. It doesn't help that neither Jubilee nor Flynn seem to deeply mourn the ceaseless death surrounding them. I suppose we could chalk that up to PTSD, but it also comes across as if said death is merely cheap grist for the plot.
