The Enigma Game
by Elizabeth Wein
I was so excited to see this coming out; I adored Code Name Verity and the timing was perfect -- it came out on November 3rd, when i absolutely needed a non-political escape. This was enjoyable enough, but did not live up at all to Verity. It felt pitched to a much younger audience, for one. The premise more implausible. The ending too simplistic. A missed opportunity to go into some of the wonderful complexities of codebreaking. But good to see YA literature with strong female characters that delves gently into racial/ethic bias.
