Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith
3.0

The third instalment of the Cormoran Strike series was considerably different from the previous two books.

This time, the case involves Strike himself and we get to read a lot more about his past, especially about his mother. We also get a more detailed view of the life of Robin, her family and the challenges of balancing her professional and personal life. Another interesting distinction from the previous books is that in this one, we get a couple of chapters from the perspective of the killer as well. Clearly Rowling is having some fun in the shoes of Robert Galbraith and experimenting with different approaches.

I could clearly see the the genius of Rowling in a lot of places and the same time elsewhere, I felt a bit stretched or burdened by a few extra details and descriptions.

Nonetheless it was definitely an enjoyable book and the twist was amazing. I do wish the last chapter was a bit more longer though.

Definitely go for it if you are a fan of the Cormoran Strike series or Rowling.
