American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis

uh.

i lowkey hated reading this, yet now that its over, i kinda love it? i usually do pretty well with violence and sex in media, but this book gets so graphic it actually left me disturbed. beyond that, i actually respect what this is going for. reading this as if its a 12-year old trying to write the "darkest" book ever makes it a much easier pill to swallow. i don't exactly mean that as an insult, as i think it's purposeful. there's plenty of ambiguity here, and taking into account that patrick bateman is probably the most unreliable narrator there is, i was able to enjoy this a lot more once i realized that. definitely not for the faint of heart, and i actually prefer the movie, but this is a goofy fucking ride all the same

bonus dbd section: would patrick bateman fit in dbd? not really. would i love it? yes. call him the yuppie (he's such a loser compared to the rest of the killers that a name like this would fit). the survivor spot is kinda sketchy, but you could go with kimball, paul owen/allan, or evelyn. the map is another tough one, maybe an office building? dorsia would be fucking funny and actually a restaurant map would be amazing now that i think about it
