I liked this book. It was cute. Cade is Rhett from the first books brother. He needs a nanny to come live with him over the summer to entertain his five year old son, Luke, while he spends his day on the ranch working the cattle. He denies almost all the nannies they interview. Finally summer considers her best friend Willa because shes a bartender and her bar is getting renovated over the summer. Willa runs into Cade at a coffee shop unknowing that’s the person looking for a nanny and accidentally drops a pair of purse panties in front of him. The banter between Cade and Willa is cute. Cade is definitely grumpy sunshine but so gentle and lovable towards Willa after they fall in love. The porch scene was spicy and the spicy went on for several chapters. Cade is dirty in the bedroom but very kind and still respectful. I don’t like when men tell the women to shut up even if it’s to stop them for talking negatively about themselves or spiraling. There’s a scene and it’s Luke’s birthday and his mom is there. She looks like a Victoria secret model and Willa gets self conscious and starts looking for a wine opener but finds her purse panties from the first day instead. Cade fucks her on the countertop and forces her to walk out there with his cum still in her and gentle puts her purse panties on her. It was so steamy. It’s a slow burn with Cade being grumpy for most of it and trying to withhold himself. But once they finally fall in love, it’s perfect and exactly what I want in a man.
Willa got sick, threw up her birth control pill and is now pregnant. And instead of just leaning on Cade she goes back to the city to get space. I didn’t like that. I want her to be so fully invested and confident that it drove me nuts. Cade pours a sidewalk while she’s gone. And puts hearts on the driveway and in one heart, he puts her initials as WE implying they’re going to get married. I wish we could’ve had a longer epilogue with a proposal.
Oh also, I hate whenever the MMC Has an annoying nickname for the FMC. In reckless Rhett called Summer princess. And in heartless, Cade kept calling Willa Red because she has red hair. Get more creative people.
