Walk the Wire by David Baldacci

2.0

Listened to this on a car trip. We quickly increased the reading speed to 1.5 because we wanted to get finished with it. A Mysterious murder occurs in the fracking fields of North Dakota and Amos Decker an FBI agent with photographic memory is sent to investigate. The story annoyed me because there seemed to be quite a bit of repetition of information as a character was thinking about something that they knew, had to tell another character what happened or thought about it again. It seemed as if it was filler to extend pages for the book. Amos Decker is ok as a character but his partner Alex Jamison is not believable as an FBI agent. Then when the secret government agent Will Robie showed up the story went completely to fantasy. The gadgets he had would put James Bond and “Q” to shame. He could out fight more thugs than Jack Reacher and then his partner shows up and she seem to be a female version of Joe Pike from the Robert Crais novels. You will learn quite a bit about fracking in this book though.
