3.5

I enjoyed this but I feel like this story had more potential. 3.5

First starting with what I really liked: we have women who’ve lived through a traumatic experience and have grown in a very patriarchal society where they have not much say and here we basically see them taking a decision amongst themselves and for themselves and their children. That’s the part I enjoyed the most, the fact that we see them taking their lives into their own hands.
I also really enjoyed the characters but I’m disappointed we didn’t get to know them better (though this is a very short book)

For what I didn’t like too much. This book is narrated by a man, who grew up in the colony but left at 12 with his parents. I do get that his perspective allows us to see the women from an outside perspective. But at times his perspective and thoughts felt distracting to me. I’m not sure why.
The book is composed of almost only dialogue and although it’s interesting, it could get a bit tedious at times even though the book is short.

But still solid story and characters, definitely like the message behind it.
