Leigh Bardugo is one of my instant reads; if she's written it, I'll read it.
It was a beautiful read. The world rebuilt to a time when it was very harsh, unforgiving and dangerous to be poor, a woman, Jewish and with magic. Our main character is all these but is defiant, stubborn and determined that what she has and where she is in the world is not enough and she's willing to risk all to get what she wants.
Excellent standalone.
