I think the writing was gorgeous. The tone matched the conceit beautifully. The plot wasn't much to write home about, but I liked the characters. I wasn't sure how it was going to end in the last few pages, and actually started to root against the ending I'd wanted all along, which was an interesting magic trick. Well done.
