Waking the Gods by Eva Chase

4.5 stars

Ok, so will family that this book may have been a slightly lower rating than what I've given, but it is difficult for me to rate this novel without taking the previous books into consideration since this is the last book to the series. I listened to the audio version of this novel and Samantha Cook and Aiden Snow did a bang up job. Full disclosure, I also unintentionally ended another mythological based reverse harem series at the same time as this one. I was so disappointed in that one, but I tried not to let it influence how I rated this one

Character wise, I think Eva Chase did a great job on giving each of these characters their own voice and distinct personality. It is so much easier to feel for someone who has a painful past such as Loki, but she did a great job in showing that there was conflict for each of them. She is even able to show all is not perfect for the literal golden boy, Baldur. I do like the way that characters interact with each other and I think that the interactions between the other God's and the outcasts such as Hod and Loki are very realistic to the past relationships.

I was a little surprised with the incorporation of man made weapons into the storyline. Normally, I do not like my fantasy and reality to merge, and although I wasn't the biggest fan, I found I didn't mind it as much.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. I will be looking for other books by this author.
