Starship Titanic by Terry Jones

2.5

The first few chapters show a lot of promise, exploring the backstory of the ship & its conceited creator, but then the actual main characters show up & they're just so brutally uninteresting that the whole thing takes a nosedive.

The scifi plot does have its moments, when it's not getting bogged down by everyone randomly falling in & out of love with each other. Some of the jokes are funny, though they're oddly few & far between. There are several points where the characters stop to solve a puzzle or hunt for some mcguffins, seemingly just to remind you that this was based on a video game. Not a huge issue but it struck me as weird every time it happened.

I think all the way from beginning to end, I really wanted to like this more than I did. I still don't actually hate it or anything, but it's not quite what I'd expect from either of the names attached.
