this was a cute middle grade read with great discussions of gender. i liked the way it was told with a split perspective that changed 50% in from one mc to the other. i do think the “chapters” or rather the different days were really inconsistent in length and content, and that made it feel like there were big gaps/holes in the plot. i did really like both essie and ollie though!!
