I love a slow burn historical romance. Even though I started this series out of order, the author did a really good job of describing the secondary characters to give a sense of who they were. The main plot of this book follows a woman who has a lifelong goal to break glass ceilings to become the first female royal guard. But after she meets the MMC, she has to decide whether to pursue her lifelong goal or if that goal is worth it if she doesn’t have love in her life.
