Meh! My recollection is that I liked the first book featuring Matthew Venn, and I've certainly liked some of the other Ann Cleeves books I've read, like the Shetland series. But, I quickly found this book to be rather tedious. I couldn't wait for it to end.
The 3* need a - sign appended, i.e. ***-, or perhaps **+, which is a notch worse.
