There was no need for a sequel, absolutely none. I hated this book and I hated that I forced myself to read it. My review of the first book was as follows: "Cute concept, but it's so hard to root for the characters when they are insufferable" - AND MY POINT STILL STANDS. The only reason I rated the last book 2 stars, was because I was happy that they BROKE UP IN THE END. The concept of a meetcute in that way was great, the execution was awful, and this book just made it even worse.
These two absolutely should not be together, they do not work. That was made abundantly clear in the last book when everything kept going wrong, and was made abundantly clear in this book. They had the perfect matches: Mikey and Mario!!! And dumped them for a guy they dated for 3 weeks two whole years ago, and had never seen in person since??? Righhhttt, makes sense to me. I don't care what Arthur said, he may not have physically cheated on Mikey, but he 100% was emotionally cheating on him the entire time they were together. In my opinion, Arthur was selfish and didn't want to be alone. Mario and Mikey deserved so much better. And also, to see all the progress on Ben and Dylan trying to become friends with Hudson and Harriett again in the last book, only for that to not happen in this book was pointless (not that Hudson deserved it), and for Ben to just give up his dreams of his book potentially becoming published/made into a show of some kind?? Mario could give you all of that, and you chose Arthur??? Who the most he could give you was a guilt trip.
Because I'm sorry, if you know someone is moving away with their boyfriend (not boyfriend) and moving on with their life, you do not ruin that with them with your own delulu selfish fantasies. And for everyone encouraging that - jail. That is just messed up. I really went into this book hoping it would be a "here's to us moving on with our lives with these amazing people and still managing to be friends despite our 5 day history" and was overly disappointed when it wasn't. They did not work, and I don't care that the story ended with their marriage, they never will.
That's another point, this book really dragged on. It did not need to keep going further and further into the future to prove the point that they stayed together. If that was obvious, then it was unnecessary. I think subconsiously, the authors also knew they would not last, but needed to prove otherwise to the readers. Half the book was just emotional cheating and jealousy, and I truly think the same point would have been brought across if the book was like half the length it currently is.
This is probably the longest review I've ever written, but I needed the rant. Truly surprised I haven't seen other reviews with the same points of view, maybe I'm just a hater, maybe this book truly is just awful and everyone is too afraid to say it.
