Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel
challenging
reflective
slow-paced
2.5
Read for book club.
There were structurally elements I really enjoyed, and reams of intertextuality that flew over my head.
Loved a lot of the details in the background of the illustrations, and found it pleasingly easy to follow despite my lack of experience with graphic novels.
Not what I expected, knowing that it had been turned into a musical, although I’m not sure what it was that I did expect.
An engaging read - I pretty much read in a single sitting.
((Personally, I found the most powerful beats all fell in the opening chapter))
