I acknowledge it's cleverly done and is a nice view of life in a Regency village and of its very human inhabitants, but I just can't love it. The best I can say for it is that each character is completely realized and realistic; they are all personalities you encounter each day. But I don't find them consistently compelling. For as lofty and self-important as all the characters are, their interactions with each other really boil down to superficial clique drama. I guess that's why Clueless works so well as an adaptation.
