A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
4.0
I had high hopes for this one and was not disappointed. Not only is our female main character the pick pocketing pirate type, but the world building is phenomenal. Schwab managed to ease you into their fantasy world without a confusing hoard of information and immeadeatly captures you with such a fascinating dimension theory as well as the relation of power and magic with different political systems. On top of all this, we get a knife to the throat over glorious banter- does it get any better? My sole reservation is with the sometime too obvious stress on the danger of power’s lure, and the repetitiveness in fight scenes. These complaints were so minor that all in all, it was a fabulous read.
