Capsid: A Love Song by Joseph Osmundson

I loved the experimental format of this: snippets of his life alternating with poetic descriptions of HIV infection. Such an interesting way to think about the virus and a great read for Pride month!

But even for gay men and even in urban centers, living through the 1990s meant that HIV and sex were interconnected, one and the same. Half of us gay men have HIV in our minds when we're having sex. Sex is never just sex; it is safe sex, safer sex, unsafe sex. It is always qualified. I am always thinking about it. I am not alone. It is a product of our time, of our childhood, of our lives.
