This book was infuriating. I hated every character besides the neighbor in the MC’s childhood. It’s like the entire time was working up to a climax but never happened. There was no plot; it just felt like we were stuck in someone’s life who desperately needed therapy. It made me feel crazy. Maybe that was the goal, but I rushed to finish it to see if there was anything that would redeem it and, in my eyes, there wasn’t. Also, the author didn’t use headlines to indicate who’s POV it was for each chapter/what time in the MC’s life it was. The missing headlines for each chapter drove me insane — I also had/still have no idea what the MC’s name was (due to no headlines).
the ending insinuates that Gemma finally believes the MC, but it’s honestly not enough payoff for me.
