The Wolf Within Me
by Cheree Alsop
A surprising read
I find lately I’m being surprised by the books I’m choosing to read. Thankfully it’s in a positive way.
This book was one I received from a promotion and I thought it looked interesting but didn’t know quite what to expect. Supernatural schools are not new (Harry Potter anyone?) and I really thought I’d read every angle you could take. Apparently I was wrong - and I’m happy I was.
The main character is complex and someone I connected with immediately. He experiences a wide range of emotions throughout the story and the author handles each situation wonderfully. I found he grew a lot throughout the novel both personally and with his interpersonal relationships.
I did think the formatting for text messages was a little odd being in all caps. It took a bit for me to get used to it and not read it like the characters were yelling.
3.5/5
