I don't even know what to say. I still can't stop crying, despite the fact I finished this book some time ago.

I often cry during books, I love something that tugs at my emotions but I have never felt anything like this. This was a different kind of emotion, this was grief and mourning for the millions of Jews that were stripped of their humanity and murdered.

This book was set from before WWII to the very end, you follow so many characters as they walk to their death and yet, you still can't help yourself from hoping something will change. That they'll all survive.

Although I knew this, it still hurt when the author named specific parts of the book that were completely historically accurate—no artistic licence. Cold, hard facts.

It's so painful because this was real. I can't imagine a world or a life like this, I pray to god that people suffering in war torn countries today find peace and I thank him that I've never had to live through unnamable atrocities. Books like these are hard to read but so important.
