Well, this was interesting. I think the author did a great job capturing how harrowing it is to get lost in an unknown place—the stress, the tension, the crabby behaviour. That was good.

I don’t think the characters themselves, nor their dynamics, were that interesting. They felt spare and contrived. I also think a lot of things were wrapped up quite neatly, albeit with a twist in the end.

This was a gripping and engaging book, though nothing has matched the chilling cleverness of The Teacher yet.
