Heart of Darkness
by Joseph Conrad
Warning-Spoilers: I reread this novel hoping for some inspiration for my own writing. Found it much less deep and interesting than I recalled. Marlow didn't seem to spend enough time with Kurtz, or at least the reader wasn't present for enough conversations, to justify Marlow's fascination with and dedication to Kurtz and his affairs. The greatness of Kurtz exists in rumors and hearsay and the mess he left behind, which left me disappointed.
