Folsom by Willow Aster, Tarryn Fisher

4.0

Okay. I definitely read this out of impulse and curiosity. I even had to abandon my current read for this. I didn't even have any idea at all that Tarryn Fisher has a new book coming up so I was really surprised by all this "Folsom" talk. And seeing that this was co-written with Willow Aster, I AM SO DOWN WITH IT!! I love Fisher and Aster's writings so them collaborating kills me with curiosity so yep, I immediately dug into this book.

First, the concept and plot they chose is so unique, I still think it's super weird. THIS IS NEW ADULT + SEXY ROMANCE + DYSTOPIAN. Hmm. Weird in a good way, I guess?
The story focuses on the End Men. They are the remaining 12 men on the regions that help in sustaining the population and impregnating all the women. I mean, LIKE WHAAAAT? This is fcking sex slavery at its worst! Just thinking about the ratio of the men from the women is bothersome. The story then went from a lot of fcking to rebellion because duh, it's dystopian so rebelling against the government is a must.
I love the writing. It was so engaging from the first page until the last chapter but I still think that everything is sooooo weird! Just. because.

The main man, Folsom, was fine for me though I did not entirely swoon over him. I like Gwen more. She's feisty and she was the first one to give a shout out to the 'Society' about the equality of everyone and to let the men free. That takes guts in a society being ruled by lustful women who only wants the dick to themselves. Yikes.

Over all, I like it fine. It was unique and the strong point of the story is about humanity and the equality in all gender so that definitely brings some wake up call.
Can't wait for the next book!!
