Godless by Dan Barker

4.0

Barker presents a wonderfully well-written and engaging analysis of the case against deism. His particular focus rests on Christianity, as is expected given his status as a former evangelical minister. In terms of his prose, he's no Hitchens or Dawkins. However, his style does "testify" incredibly well to those formerly faithful. I would give the book five stars except that I find some of his arguments reaching. While I completely agree that their is no god, and his presentation of the case against one is solid, I feel he overreaches concerning some of the critical analysis of ancient text and/or regarding the mindsets of certain historical figures. Still, I would recommend this book without hesitation to any person questioning the existence of god - personal or otherwise.
