The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

3.75

Though probably aimed at an audience slightly younger than I was at the time of reading, I found this book at the age of fifteen and fell in love. I love word play and with a math teacher as a mother I am no stranger to numbers. This was a wonderful story of a boy who lives a boring life arriving in a world where word choice is paramount.
A bit of a parallel to alice in wonderland as they both contain precocious children who are a bit too logical to understand the more niche rules of the world around them.
