A Ladder to the Sky by John Boyne
5.0
Last year I read The Heart’s Invisible Furies, and it became an instant favorite. So when I saw the synopsis for his latest novel, A Ladder to the Sky, I immediately preordered a copy.
I couldn’t put this down.
If you’re looking to fall in love with another character that’ll tug on your heart strings like Cyril Avery, this isn’t that book. But if you’re interested in reading about a well crafted psychopath, you’re in luck. I found Maurice to be incredibly fascinating. He’s very handsome, very charming, and extremely manipulative. He’s completely self aware of who he is and what he‘s doing, and feels no remorse.
This book is told in 3 parts, with 2 interludes, and is woven together seamlessly.
This will definitely be added to my list of favorites read this year!
