The Good Guy's Guide to Great Sex: Because Good Guys Make the Best Lovers by Sheila Wray Gregoire, Keith Ronald Gregoire

5.0

If something has been off in your marriage, this book could help you to turn it on (see what I did there?)

Okay, okay, I was not ashamed to read this book—I’m a fan of Sheila Gregoire and much of the work she is doing, and it’s good to learn about sex—but man, i wish this title was different. It just feels cheesy, embarrassing, condescending(?).

Anyways, this is a good book on sex with Christian values in mind. I found the book to be very practical and direct, going into detail on things like anatomy and the way things work and don’t work. It was very helpful overall.

I was hesitant to read the sections on emotional and spiritual intimacy, because I’ve read lots of marriage books and they feel the same. This one was refreshing for me. Their conversation on pornography could have been longer, but was a pretty good approach compared to the shaming approaches of typical books.

I was recently asked to do some pre-marital counseling next year and I will probably end up recommending this work, if not assigning it or portions of it. There is also a version for women. I mean, excuse me, “good girls.”
