This is one of those books which will give you wanderlust - even if you don't want all of your adventures to go exactly as Kristin's did.

I loved following her around the world as she shared her travel memories. It's not a surprise that she's a comedy writer - this is a fun book. There are times when things didn't go well but Kristin still managed to find the humour and share the lighter side of the situation.

What I was Doing While You Were Breeding isn't a book for the fainthearted. The first chapter alone has drugs, sex and Amsterdam dance music. And there are some apologies throughout the book to the author's father for revealing some of her travel antics. And whilst that might make this book not everyone's cup of tea - I had fun travelling vicariously though Kristin (also after reading this book I feel like we are friends so I feel no hesitation in calling the author by her first name. That is all.).

As much as I enjoyed travelling places I've not been as a voyeur to Kristin's exhibitions what I enjoyed most was her insight to her own psyche. This isn't a travel guide nor is it a what not to do on holidays. But rather it's just one woman's adventures as she experiences the world as all it has to offer. I could relate to her in parts and I loved how she owned herself and her actions.

My takeaway from the book? Be brave. Have your adventures and learn to live in the moment. And if you kiss a few gorgeous foreign boys in the process - more power to you.
