Batman and Robin, Volume 7: Robin Rises by Peter J. Tomasi, Peter J. Tomasi

5.0

With the latest from DC's New 52 in the Batfamily, this is perhaps the only volume 7 I have truly enjoyed. With the move to repeat a plot point from 2011/2010 I was very disappointed. I felt they had no ideas.

This was a great idea. While losing Robin isn't new to Batman (see the late 1980's [b:Batman: A Death in the Family|107032|Batman A Death in the Family|Jim Starlin|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327940363s/107032.jpg|103163]) this was more personal thanks to who killed him and who he was. Batman's downward spiral was heartbreaking and powerful. It affected his relationship with everyone in the Justice League and every member of his family. It was brilliantly done.

This, the beautiful climax all of us hoped for is just as brilliant. How hard it was for Batman to get his boy back, and what happened after, the challenges for both of them, and how Damian has grown, and needs his father is beautiful.

And then what happened in Batman 7, not looking forward to what that does to him. -_-+

But Robin Rises is absolutely a 5 out of 5 stars for me.
