This has always been one of my favorite books of Danielle Steel but I have not read it for over ten years. Upon reading this time, I felt very differently about it. It is still a good book and a very emotional read, however, I realized reading it this time just what a selfish asshole Joe was on numerous occasions to Kate. He abandoned her repeatedly and especially when she needed him the most. When he thought she had mental problems and when she was pregnant and then again he abandoned her because she needed him too much. Joe didn't seem to have a problem walking away from Kate and their marriage whenever it suited him and she deserved a lot better than Joe.



We cannot choose who we love, even if they might not always be good for us. This is a very emotional read. I loved it. Steel at her best!
