Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray
3.0

I was glad to learn that Mr. Thackeray, with the monetary success brought from "Vanity Fair"'s popularity, be and less cynical and actually swore off satire. Not that I have anything against satire, but Mr. Thackery comes across as quite bitter and sometimes I thought VF a bit too doom and gloom for me. Overall, I enjoyed much of the storyline, but the long soliloquys by the narrator we're obviously rough to get through. The first half of the novel was fun, but I did think it started to drag a bit after Waterloo. I want to give it an extra star for being such a classic and ahead of it's time, but I won't.
