The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley

adventurous mysterious tense
I don't know if I just forgot the blurb between putting this on hold and finally reading it, or if I completely ignored it, but this was unexpected 😅 I read the plot description once I finished and realized it was exactly as advertised so I'm not sure where I got mixed up. I think I imagined a critique of empire ala Babel by RF Kuang mixed with more sci fi and time travel, which, sure, but also more romance and character-heavy than I anticipated? I wanted to like it more than I did. I love so many elements of this but I struggled with following as it all came together. Almost like the experience of reading The Centre by Ayesha Manazir Siddiqi. Great potential, with execution that left me wanting more depth.
