Thriller/mystery vibes with some unsettling body and fungi horror sprinkled throughout. I really enjoyed the fungi-style zombie-reanimation concept. Parts of this book were really interesting and uniquely written; however, I wished for a little bit more in certain parts. I especially wanted to sit with The Strangness, its hive mind qualities, and the reanimated missing girl. I might need to reread this book to give it a second chance in case the narrator skewed some of my feelings with the dialogues. Overall, intrigued by the eco-horror genre.
Graphic: Body horror, Death, Murder, Fire/Fire injury
Moderate: Animal death, Sexual assault, Vomit
Minor: Rape, Sexual violence, Suicidal thoughts
