-This book did not come with a trigger warning but boy did it need one. I personally don’t need trigger warnings but I know anyone who has had a bad relationship with their parents would probably really benefit from a warning about the emotional and physical abuse and clear manipulation from a (wannabe) parental like figure.
-I have a soft spot for sassy thieves or fox type tricksters. Finn was such a treat.
-The characters in general were easy to like. Except for the antagonist, of course. His dialogue was very realistic manipulation.
-The ending made sense but it felt too convenient and too easily solved.
-It was repetitive at times
-I liked the card game part of the book, it was an interesting piece of the world. I also liked the way the Magic was described.
