A gripping blend of political tension and spacefaring mystery that kicks off the Expanse series with confidence. Holder and Miller's dynamic works even better here than in the show, offering a thoughtful contrast between their opposing viewpoints. While it's a little less 'noir' the adaptation had led me to believe, it ends up feeling stronger for it, with better pacing and better grounding than the early strides of its TV counterpart.
