crohrbeck 's review for:
The Flamethrowers
by Rachel Kushner
I believe this is a half-dozen potential novels rolled into one. The author writes beautifully; there are sections, e.g., monologues that could stand on their own.
Jumps back and forth from early 1900s in Italy to the 70s in the west and NYC, and then Italy again with the Red Brigades. I encountered slices of history that I knew nothing about.
A bit haunting, confusing, but worth reading.
