Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven
3.0

I picked up Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven with sky-high expectations, thanks to the BookTok buzz. By the 75% mark, I knew I was too invested to DNF, yet all I wanted was for it to end.

This debut, inspired by a Groundhog Day-esque time loop that resets every few decades in different countries, had an undeniably compelling premise. The writing is absolutely stunning. Laura Steven’s prose is sharp, evocative, and confident, I’ll be reading whatever she writes next.

What held me back from loving this was the romance. It just didn’t click. I kept waiting to feel something deeper, to connect with the characters the way I hoped I would but that emotional spark never came. The mystery of why kept me reading, and thankfully, the ending delivered. It offered a satisfying resolution that almost redeemed the journey.

Still, I can't help but think that if I had felt the romance, this story could’ve been a 10/10 for me. As it stands, it was a beautifully written near miss.
