Falling Into Bed with a Duke by Lorraine Heath

Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This was so very close to a five-star read, but the ending let it down a little. I loved both Minerva and Ashe; my advice is to picture Minerva as an outspoken 1930s broad but in 1878 - Heath’s dialogue is always so plain that I didn’t grasp that Minerva was so brash at first. (In a good way.) And Ashe is so smitten with her and so dirty - a mirrored ceiling? They have great chemistry.

At some point, I realized that she was going to find out that Ashe was in financial trouble and think he was only after her dowry, but I held out hope that Heath would surprise me and give them a different ending. She didn’t - which is why this is 4 stars instead of 5.

But I still was really engaged with the story, it was very sexy, and I loved seeing Jack Dodger again. He’s turned into such a good daddy.
