I really wanted to like this book. As a trans person, I thought a horror novel about transness would be perfect. However, I feel that this book is way too heavy handed? I understand the metaphor of Manhunt well, but the observations made through it are obvious to a point where I felt like I gained nothing from it. This could be enjoyable to a cis reader who hasn't read much from the perspective of trans people, but this may not be as profound to the average trans reader. I would normally be more charitable, but I've had Manhunt hyped up by a multitude of people for its quality.
Graphic: Gore, Hate crime, Misogyny, Transphobia, Violence, Medical content, Dysphoria, Injury/Injury detail, Pandemic/Epidemic
Moderate: Cursing, Vomit, Stalking
Manhunt is in the splatterpunk genre, so it is very explicit about gore and violence. This book is primarily about transphobia and transmisogyny.
