Captain America (2018-) #1 by Alex Ross, Leinil Francis Yu, Ta-Nehisi Coates

5.0

I mean come on, if you know me, you know that Captain America is my favorite. This is my first time being able to jump into a Captain America from the very beginning and it was nice to be able to start from the very beginning. This takes place after the Secret Empire Omega comics and I would recommend reading at least the Captain America one to understand the backstory of this. I really enjoyed this comic because it really instills Cap, who I am going to refer to as Steve in the rest of this review, as a throughly human character. He is struggling with the after effects of what happened in Secret Empire Omega and what happened before that. It shows him trying to reconcile with the America he sees now and trying to understand it. A character also showed up who I did not expect and was so happy to see because they are also my favorite but I am keeping it vague for the sake of no spoilers. What I ultimately loved about this though was the fact that Steve had a good point at the end and throughout the whole comic. I won't say it for it is something that needs to be read but I absolutely loved his point and can't wait to see where this will go.
