His Hideous Heart: 13 of Edgar Allan Poe's Most Unsettling Tales Reimagined by Dahlia Adler

4.0

I haven't read all of Poes stories that are featured in this book, but I have loved pieces by him before (Tell-Tale Heart, the Masque of the Red Death, Cask of Amontillado). This book did an amazing job at retelling his stories in a way that features present day technologies (or future) and brings diversity to his works (in race, gender, sexuality). My favorite reimagined stories were (using the original name): Annabelle Lee, The Cask, Tell-Tale Heart, and the Purloined Letter.

Overall, I would recommend I really enjoyed reading this and seeing the authors different takes on his stories.
